Is time real?

The Skinny Giant

Stay with me now. This isn’t a psychological question to bend your mind. Think about it. Outside of a calendar, how would you wake up and know what day of the week it is? How would you know what month it is? What year, etc.? How would you know? The seasons, how would we know? We keep a record of the past, called history, but can we get back to the past? We make plans for the future, but can we get there?

All that to say this. All you have in life is this moment. You don’t have the last minute or hour and you don’t have the next. Many of us are so focused on what is to come or what has happened and we waste what we have on what we cannot control. We have schedules for the week, but we cannot guarantee where we will be the next moment. We stress over busy schedules, and yet, it is a theoretical plan for something we might get to. What is your plan for now? What are you doing now? Are you living right now, or are you waiting for your vacation in two weeks.

You have the life that is in front of you now, make the best of that one, not just the one you plan to have in the future which is an abstract concept. Appreciate this day, whether it’s hot, cold, rainy, sunny, dragging on, zooming by, and regardless of where you are. Don’t waste what you have now for what you might have later. And don’t under-appreciate what you have now because of what you used to have. Time is not linear. There is no rewind or fast-forward. Pour your all into this moment, make the best of what
